More than 100 days after a New York pregnancy center was firebombed, its pro-life leaders expressed frustration that there still have not been any arrests.
In a new interview with the Catholic News Agency, James Harden, president of CompassCare Pregnancy Services, said Amherst Police and the FBI have surveillance footage and a “mountain of other evidence,” but they still have not caught anyone.
“It’s day 106. There have been no arrests. There have been over 50 attacks on pro-life pregnancy centers. And our patience is at an end,” Harden said Wednesday.
CompassCare was heavily damaged after a firebomb and vandalism attack June 7, attributed to the violent pro-abortion group Jane’s Revenge. The crime was one of 10 arson attacks and dozens of vandalisms directed at pro-life groups and churches since May when news leaked that the U.S. Supreme Court would overturn Roe v. Wade.
On Tuesday, the pregnancy center filed a lawsuit seeking a copy of its surveillance footage from Amherst Police, according to CNA. Harden said they had asked both the police and FBI for a copy of the full footage, but they have not received it.
“Time is of the essence to commence a civil litigation because the longer time goes by the more likely it will be that those responsible for the firebombing will spoliate other evidence,” the lawsuit states.

When Harden looked at the footage right after the attack, he said he noticed several people and license plates, but he did not have the chance to make a copy before handing it to authorities, according to the report.
Harden said he also does not understand why police did not release any footage to the public to help find the attackers.
“There is a serious sickness in the body politic of America and the FBI isn’t even talking about it,” he told CNA. “It’s the largest law enforcement agency on the globe and it appears that they’re treating this like some sort of bubble gum theft.”
In an Aug. 1 statement, Amherst Police said they are still working with the FBI to investigate the case.
Here’s more from the report:
Stanley J. Silwa, the Amherst town attorney, told Buffalonews.com that giving CompassCare a copy of the footage would put the police investigation in jeopardy and added that the police would release the footage after the investigation is complete. …
In an interview with the Epoch Times, Silwa said that the police department wants a “quiet” investigation because of fears that “these people don’t go further underground, as they may already be.”
According to CNA, authorities have not made any arrests in more than 50 vandalism attacks on pro-life organizations since May. Last week, Fox News also reported the FBI and local police departments could not confirm any arrests in response to 18 acts of arson and vandalism allegedly committed by Jane’s Revenge since May.
By the LifeNews count, more than 100 pro-life organizations, pregnancy centers and churches have been victims of arson, vandalism, harassment and threats since May when someone leaked a draft of the Supreme Court abortion decision Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health.
In June, the FBI confirmed it was investigating the attacks, and, in a follow-up last week, told Fox News that its investigation is on-going.
However, Wisconsin Family Action president Julaine Appling, whose office was firebombed in May, said they have not heard anything from federal or local authorities since early June.
“Not only have no arrests been made, but to the best of my knowledge, no person of interest as even been apprehended or brought in for questioning,” Appling said.
The crime wave has many pro-life organizations increasing security and Republican lawmakers demanding action from the Biden administration to crack down on the growing domestic terrorism. But, while the Biden administration has been aggressively working to expand the killing of unborn babies in abortions, it has done little to stop the violence and hostilities directed at pro-life advocates and churches.
On Tuesday, U.S. Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Washington, and Chris Smith, R-New Jersey, introduced the Protect Pregnancy Care Centers Act to require the Biden administration to publicly disclose how it is handling the investigation and prosecution of pro-abortion activists who attack pro-life organizations and churches.
In July, however, U.S. House Democrats blocked another resolution condemning the violence against pro-life organizations and churches.
