New York Governor Kathy Hochul confirmed Monday her plan to end the state’s COVID-19 emergency declaration just weeks before her close race for re-election against Republican Lee Zeldin.

Hochul took office last year after her boss, Andrew Cuomo, resigned after a series of sexual misconduct allegations.

“I will not be renewing them this time,” Hochul said Monday. “We’re in a different place now. We’ve been making announcements about taking masks off on public transportation. We have a new booster shot as of a few days ago.”

This is a developing story…
