The unauthorized leak of a draft abortion opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court has Democrats up in arms (again) about packing the U.S. Supreme Court. This isn’t a new argument and one gun control advocates publicly pitched before.

Senators are openly calling for court-packing again and that’s before the Supreme Court has rendered a final opinion on New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen or finalized the opinion of the leaked abortion draft decision. Even before the nine justices heard arguments on the New York case challenging the states arbitrary and restrictive “may issue” concealed carry permit criteria, there were calls for court-packing.

U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) filed an amicus brief in NYSRPA v. New York supporting restrictive gun control but took arguments beyond supporting the law with threats to upend the court’s structure. That case was ultimately declared “moot” by the Supreme Court after New York City altered the law to avoid the Court striking down the law.

“Perhaps the Court can heal itself before the public demands it be ‘restructured in order to reduce the influence of politics.’ Particularly on the urgent issue of gun control, a nation desperately needs it to heal,” Sen. Whitehouse wrote.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) led a 2019 letter excoriating court-packing threats and urged the justices to render opinions based on Constitutional interpretations, not public opinion polls. The letter was signed by 53 Republican senators.

“It’s one thing for politicians to peddle these ideas in Tweets or on the stump,” Sen. McConnell wrote. “But the Democrats’ amicus brief demonstrates that their court-packing plans are more than mere pandering. They are a direct, immediate threat to the independence of the judiciary and the rights of all Americans.”

It’s a fool’s errand to predict a Supreme Court ruling, but the justices’ questions offered insight that they appeared to be wary of New York’s subjective qualifications to obtain concealed carry permits. The decision will be the most significant on gun rights since the 2010 McDonald decision.

That’s got gun control groups acting like spoiled school children. They’re throwing fits. They too want to change the court’s structure. Several of these groups joined together for a discussion on how to change the rules and rig the system against law-abiding Americans and their God-given right to self-defense.

Hiding the Agenda

Igor Volsky, Executive Director of Guns Down America, Matt Post of March for Our Lives, Demand Justice’s Tamara Brummer and U.S. Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-N.Y.) joined together for a closed-door discussion about their desire to pack the Supreme Court.

They want more gun control-friendly justices that would legislate from the bench to restrict rights. The webinar was closed to the public, forcing any tuning in to register their personal information ahead of time. There is no public video of the discussion anywhere.

Brummer believes the Supreme Court has, “always been a political battleground, and now liberals need to push for more seats that will protect progressive policy advancements,” like restrictive gun control. Matt Post exclaimed from the National Mall, “Their right to own an assault rifle does not outweigh our right to live.”

True assault rifles, or automatic weapons used by the military, have been severely restricted for civilian ownership since 1934 and haven’t been commercially made or sold since 1986.

Volsky is an ardent gun control supporter. He’s not only affiliated with Guns Down America but is also vice president of the far-left think tank Center for American Progress. He fired off a Twitter meltdown when U.S. District Court Judge Roger Benitez struck down California’s 30-year-old ban on Modern Sporting Rifles (MSRs) in his ruling on Miller v. Bonta last year.

Rep. Jones has never met a gun control proposal he didn’t like. He so strongly supports court-packing that he’s introduced legislation, along with fellow gun control Reps. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) and Sen. Edward Markey (D-Mass.), to expand the court in order to pack it.

“To restore power to the people, we must expand the Supreme Court,” Rep. Jones said. He must’ve forgotten the people elected the president who nominated justices on the current court, including the previous two Democratic presidents who filled vacancies.

That doesn’t include the Highest Court’s newest justice, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, who was recently nominated by President Joe Biden and confirmed by the U.S. Senate and will be seated later this summer once Justice Stephen Breyer formally retires from the bench.

Voting and Buying

These groups and elected officials aren’t just ignoring their oath to defend the Constitution, they’re ignoring their obligation to represent “We the People.” More than 40 million firearms were purchased in 2020 and 2021, including more than 14 million by first-time buyers.

The firearm buying boom has meant 33 months straight of 1 million or more guns purchased. This includes historic numbers of minorities and more than 40 percent of first-time gun-buyers were women who feel empowered by taking up their Second Amendment rights.

Poll after poll shows Americans reject restrictions on their right to own a gun, including historic low levels of support for more gun control. It’s why federal legislation, including Rep. Jones’s court-packing gun control bill, has largely stalled and President Joe Biden is drawing the ire of gun control groups disappointed with his failure to accomplish more.

It’s why his first nominee for Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), David Chipman, failed to earn even the support of Democrats in the U.S. Senate and had his nomination withdrawn. 

Volsky’s gun control court-packing expansion discussion demonstrated why their effort is a failing one. Preaching to the gun control choir won’t do anything to make neighborhoods safer or stop criminals from committing their crimes.

Democratic President Barack Obama famously stated, “Elections have consequences.” The rules are the same for everyone and presidents get to nominate justices to fill vacancies on the Supreme Court when they arise. Americans are embracing their Second Amendment rights by the millions and gun control groups are losing their argument. Because of that, they’re now clamoring to change the rules.

Republicans: Cities and states want federal funding? They’re going to have to actually enforce the law first.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- According to reports, House conservatives are taking a stance against the Biden administration with several new legislative proposals that will help states get tough on crime.

On Monday, May 9th, Rep. Jim Banks (R-Indiana), chairman of the Republican Study Committee, released a new memo outlining the group of House conservatives’ stance on law-and-order legislation, which would actively fight states that employ more soft-on-crime actions.

The memo, first obtained by RealClearPolitics, was released six months before the midterm elections, where a large number of Democrat Congress members are retiring from their seats.

The memo also comes as many Americans express their worries about crime in the United States, which have hit their highest levels in nearly six years. A Gallup survey published in April found that 80 percent of Americans worry a great deal or fair amount about crime and violence in 2022.

The memo outlines the historic rise in crime seen across the country in recent years and very directly put the blame on left wing politicians’ and their anti-law enforcement stance. Banks wrote:

“It’s not enough for conservatives to point out that the left’s radical defund the police movement was a deadly disaster. Crime is at an unacceptable level and Americans are desperate for solutions. They need to know that conservatives have a plan to make them safe.”

The memo noted that homicides rose 30 percent across the United States in 2020, with major cities seeing another five percent increase in 2021. Murders of law enforcement officers rose 50 percent from levels set in 2020.

The memo also noted the significant increase of drug seizures, gang activities, domestic violence, and the widespread emergence of retail theft rings. Banks wrote:

“The left has allowed a culture built on hating the police to drive decisions surrounding law enforcement. The defund the police movement is without a doubt one of the greatest dangers to public safety in our nation’s history, and Democrats are responsible for it.”

The memo laid out 11 proposed actions to curb the uptick in criminal activity across the nation. The first of which is a proposed “Concerned Citizens Bill of Rights”:

“The contours of this legislation should hold anti-police officials responsible for fostering a culture of crime within their jurisdictions by conditioning a state’s receipt of relevant DOJ grant funding on the adoption of certain pro-law enforcement measures.”

Some of these measures include “Stop Subsidizing Pro-Criminal Activities,” Crime Wave Transparency,” Reining in Rogue Prosecutors,” and “Fighting No-Cash Bail.” The memo added:

“Congress should ensure that the Department of Justice reinstitutes the Trump-era police — rescinded by the Biden administration — that ensured federal prosecutors charged the highest offense rather than a lesser included offense as means of skirting mandatory minimums.”

The conservatives also advocate for qualified immunity to be codified, stating:

“Protecting our nation’s law enforcement from frivolous lawsuits is critical to ensuring that we are attracting quality officers to police agencies.”

The memo also takes aim at BigTech, stating:

“For instance, BigTech social media platforms should not be able to hide behind Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act when they knowingly share illegal content, such as child pornography, which has become an epidemic in recent years.”

The memo concluded by saying:

“BOTTOM LINE: From the White House to liberal state and local governments, there has been a systemic failure to contain crime in America. It stems from the dangerous belief that enforcing the law is somehow morally wrong or even racist.

It has paralyzed law enforcement agencies at all levels and created prosecutors who would rather let a dangerous criminal walk out of jail than enforce the law. Once again, Democrats have broken a part of our civil society, and once again it will be conservatives who will step up to piece it together.”

Rep. Issa sparks war in Congress, says House Republicans need to investigate Hunter Biden laptop scandal

WASHINGTON, D.C.- On Sunday, March 27th, during an appearance on FNC’s “Fox & Friends Weekend,” Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) weighed in on House Republicans vowing to investigate Hunter Biden over his laptop scandal at the conclusion of the midterm elections.

Breitbart News reported that Issa asserted that “there was clearly a conspiracy” to cover up the Biden family’s financial dealings. During his appearance, Issa seemed to also suggest that there was “this kind of coordinated effort just before an election” that would affect the election. He said:

“Because this involves so many companies such as Facebook, Twitter, and so on, they took down the New York Post, there was clearly a conspiracy to, if you will, cover up the wrong-doing of the president and his family just before an election that he had to win and did win.”

Issa added:

“So, the investigation is clearly warranted, not just because Hunter Biden seems to be a petty criminal taking advantage of his father’s money and perhaps sharing money with his father — it’s because if we have this kind of coordinated effort just before an election, what we have is American collusion to affect the output of an election. That can’t happen.”

The Republican Rep. continued:

“We’ve got to make sure that our press is free and fair. And right now, when it comes to new media, free and fair doesn’t exist. And when it comes to one of the oldest newspapers in America, the New York Post was founded in 1801, they were suppressed, and that’s something that every American should be concerned about. And the Judiciary Committee and other committees of Congress are going to have to investigate it thoroughly.”

The New York Post reported that during a rally just outside of Atlanta, former President Donald Trump commented about how the New York Times “finally admitted” that Hunter Biden’s laptop exists. He said to a crow of supporters:

“Just last week the failing New York Times finally admitted that Hunter Biden’s laptop was real. Remember when they said it was done by Russia? Putin’s got bigger problems right now, but he must’ve thought we were nuts.”

The Post said that Trump slammed the Times for waiting to publish the report “till after the election and significantly before the next election because it’s so bad, it’s so bad what they did — probably illegal.”

Trump said that President Joe Biden should “recuse himself from anything to do with Ukraine.” Trump then called for Republicans to investigate those who dismissed the reporting. He said:

“As soon as Republicans have the chance, they must immediately investigate the egregious election interference by the media … the tech giants and intelligence officials who claimed it was Russia disinformation.”

Emails on Hunter’s laptop reportedly show that he introduced a top executive for Burisma to his father in 2015 while Joe Biden was then the vice president. Other emails reviewed by the Post found that Hunter played a role in helping a California defense contractor analyze killer diseased and bioweapons in Ukraine.

Trump has filed a $24 million federal lawsuit alleging that Hilary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee schemed to smear him and his campaign with accusations of Russian collusion.

Trump has long accused Democrats and the Clinton campaign of conspiring to link him to alleged Russian interference in the 2016 campaign — the subject of unsuccessful impeachment proceedings against Trump while he was in office.

In 2020, CBS reporter falsely told former President Donald Trump that Hunter Biden’s laptop couldn’t be “verified”

According to a report from Breitbart News, CBS News reporter Lesley Stahl falsely told then-President Donald Trump in 2020 that Hunter Biden’s personal laptop could not be verified.

However, on Wednesday, March 16th, the New York Times reported that the laptop was in fact authentic. In 2020, Breitbart New’s Emma-Jo Morris authenticated the laptop while working with the New York Post. The transcript from the interview with Stahl is below:

President Trump: Take a look at what’s going on, Lesley and then you say that —

Lesley Stahl: I think…

President Trump: It’s the biggest scandal out there, Lesley.

Lesley Stahl: And you think it’s the biggest issue to campaign on?

President Trump: I think it’s — I think it’s one of the biggest scandals I’ve ever seen and you don’t cover it. You won’t talk about it.

Lesley Stahl: Well, because it can’t be verified —

President Trump: You want to talk about insignificant things.

Lindsey Stahl: I’m telling you —

President Trump: Of course it can be verified. Excuse me, they found the laptop. Lesley, listen.

Lesley Stahl: Can’t be verified.

President Trump: What can’t be verified?

Lesley Stahl: The laptop.

President Trump: Why do you say that? Even the family has — the family, on the laptop, he’s gone into hiding. For five days he’s gone into hiding.

Lesley Stahl: He’s preparing for your debate.

President Trump: Oh, it’s taken him five days to prepare. I doubt it. I doubt it.

According to the Times report, in 2021 Hunter Biden paid an outstanding $1 million IRS tax bill to evade conviction or a long sentence. He allegedly paid the massive tax bill by taking out a loan.

The tax payment also does not protect Hunter from any potential incoming charges. As a grand jury continues to probe into Hunter’s corrupt international business dealings, his taxes are just one potential crime among many.

The probe into Hunter may include his business dealings with Ukrainian Energy company Burisma Holdings and a Chinese energy conglomerate.

Hunter’s “laptop from hell” was previously passed off by the establishment media and big tech as a Russian disinformation and it has taken the Times nearly two years to admit that the emails from the laptop were in fact Hunter’s.

According to the Times, the emails showed that Hunter tried to avoid registering with the Department of Justice (DOJ) that he was engaging in domestic political work on behalf of foreign interests. See below:

“In one email to Mr. Archer in April 2015, Mr. Biden outlined his vision for working with Burisma. In the email, Hunter Biden indicated that the forthcoming announcement of a trip to Ukraine by Vice President Biden — who is referred to in the email as ‘my guy,’ but not by name — should be ‘characterized as part of our advice and thinking — but what he will say and do is out of our hands.’”

The Times added:

“In the same April 2014 email, Hunter Biden indicated that Burisma’s officials ‘need to know in no uncertain terms that we will not and cannot interview directly with domestic policymakers and that we need to abide by FARA and any other U.S. laws in the strictest sense across the board.’”

The Times wrote:

“He suggested enlisting the law firm where he worked at the time, Boies Schiller Flexner, to help Burisma through ‘direct discussions at state, energy, and NSC,’ referring to two cabinet departments and the National Security Council at the White House.”

Hunter then reportedly penned in the email:

“The company can devise a media plan and arrange for legal protections and mitigate U.S. domestic negative press regarding the current leadership if need be.”

Neither Hunter nor Hunter’s business partners, Devon Archer and Flexner, reportedly registered with the DOJ as working for foreign interests on behalf of Burisma.

Report: Hunter Biden linked to Chinese oil companies that may be able to bail out Putin

March 10th, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C.- According to a report from the Washington Free Beacon, President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, is allegedly linked to two Chinese state oil companies that are looking to buy stakes in a Russian energy firm that has been sanctioned over Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

On Tuesday, March 8th, it was reported that Sinopec and China National Petroleum Corporation are in discussions with Beijing to invest in Russian gas giant Gazprom. Hunter Biden has reportedly done business with both Chinese firms and he may still hold an indirect investment in Sinopec.

Both firms hope to take advantage of deep discounts in the company’s shares in order to shore up their energy and commodity stockpiles.

According to the Beacon, Hunter’s connections “highlight longstanding concerns that Biden’s foreign entanglements help America’s adversaries.”

In an earlier report, the Washington Free Beacon stated that in 2011, Hunter met with an executive from China National Petroleum Corporation to discuss the potential purchase of an oil field in Africa.

Hunter met with the executive, Ge Aiji, even after he was told that the company had helped Iran, Sudan, and others evade U.S. sanctions.

Biden is reportedly connected to Sinopec through BHR Partners, a private equity firm he co-founded in 2013.

BHR bought a $1.7 billion stake in Sinopec Marketing back in 2015 and at one point, Hunter owned a 10 percent stake in BHR Partners through his wholly owned firm, Skaneateles, LLC.

In December 2021, a lawyer for Hunter told the New York Times that he no longer holds a stake in BHR or Skaneateles. However, in early March, the Washington Examiner reported that Chinese business records still list Hunter’s firm as a BHR shareholder and Washington, D.C. records still show Hunter as the firm’s owner.

The White House has routinely deflected questions about Hunter’s business dealings to his attorneys, who have largely remained quiet.

As a presidential candidate, Joe Biden promised on the campaign trail that no one in his family would have any business relationships with foreign corporations or countries if he won.

BHR is co-owned by the Bank of China.

In February, the Biden administration sanctioned Gazprom and more than a dozen other companies in hopes of depriving Putin of money to fund the Ukraine war. The administration has also blocked a Gazprom-backed pipeline, Nord Stream 2, that would transport natural gas from Russia to Germany.

Reportedly, Beijing is also weighing a stake in Rusal, a Russian aluminum conglomerate that was sanctioned in 2018. According to the Beacon:

“China’s purchase of Russian businesses and Russian commodities would provide a lifeline to Moscow at a time when the government is trying to fund its illegal war. Any deal would likely upset the Biden administration, which warned China this week against helping Russia circumvent sanctions.”

Hunter has allegedly worked on several other deals that would help China meet its energy goals. CEFC China Energy paid Hunter at least $6 million to find investment opportunities in energy companies in the United States and elsewhere in the West. According to the Beacon:

“Of that sum, the company paid Biden $1 million to represent an executive that was charged with trying to bribe African officials to buy oil drilling rights in their countries.”

According to the Beacon, Hunter was also invested in BHR partners when the company arranged a deal that allowed state-owned China Molybdenum to buy one of the world’s largest supplies of cobalt, a precious metal used to make batteries for electric cars.

BHR also reportedly facilitated the sale of Michigan-based Henniges Automotive to AVIC, a Chinese defense contractor that has been sanctioned by the U.S. government because of its ties to the People’s Liberation Army.

Report: GOP senators state that Secret Service is “hiding” information on Hunter Biden

January 22nd, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C.- According to media outlets like the New York Post and Fox News, GOP senators have claimed that the Secret Service “hid” information on the travels of Hunter Biden.

On Tuesday, January 18th, Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) penned a letter to Secret Service Director James Murray alleging that the agency “hid names and other information” contained in “email conversations regarding Hunter Biden without any proper legal justification.”

The GOP senators are demanding answers about Hunter’s overseas travels during President Joe Biden’s first two terms in office.

In the letter, Grassley and Johnson said that they did not receive any documents or communications about Hunter’s travels for the years 2010, 2011, and 2013.

On Friday, January 21st, during an appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Grassley said:

“There’s three years we don’t have any information for. And then in regard to where we did get the information, it was so heavily redacted that it was hard to make sense out of it.”

He told host Todd Piro that because of the oversight powers outlined in the Constitution, the documents did not need to be redacted for members of Congress, adding:

“It’s like pulling teeth to get answers from the executive branch, particularly on this subject.”

Grassley maintains that transparency on these issues will lead to accountability for the president’s son and that his travel information should be made public. He said:

“We know that [Hunter Biden] traveled sometimes in an airplane with his father. I can’t make any accusations against the president of the United States, but I think we have a right to know what the son was doing in those instances.”

Gun control activists are once again threatening to pack the Supreme Court - as Americans embrace gun rights

In their letter, the senators specifically noted that documents turned over at their request “do not show whether [Secret Service] personnel or Hunter Biden traveled to Kazakhstan in May or June 2014” during a trip to Paris.

In 2021, the Washington Examiner reported that Hunter, whose father was vice president at the time, decided to ditch his Secret Service bodyguards before flying to Kazakhstan to pursue a deal on behalf of the Ukrainian energy company Bursima.

Hunter reportedly planned to meet with then-Kazakhstan Prime Minister Karim Massimov, who has been arrested on treason charges following his ouster as head of the country’s counterintelligence and anti-terror agency.

Critics have accused Hunter of influence-peddling and a report in 2021 said that the Department of Justice (DOJ) was investigating a consulting firm linked to Hunter over its work for Bursima, which allegedly paid him as much as $1 million a year.

In 2020, Hunter disclosed that he was under investigation for possible tax fraud involving his business dealings in China and other foreign countries.

In their letter, the senators expressed “serious concerns” over the “extensive Freedom of Information Act redactions, which do not apply to Congress” in the 259 pages they received from the Secret Service. They wrote:

“These inappropriate redactions impede our offices’ ability to understand the full scope of the interactions between Hunter Biden, his associates, and the USSS.”

The senators said they wanted a response “as soon as possible” and set a January 26th deadline. While on “Fox & Friends,” Grassley was asked if he thought the Secret Service was covering for Hunter, to which he responded by saying:

“At this point, you can’t draw any other conclusions.”

He said that the Secret Service would have provided all requested documents if it were not covering for Hunter. Grassley then called on the media to act as a “policemen” in order to keep politicians and government officials honest. He added:

“That’s what the First Amendment, freedom of speech and press, is all about – to make sure that government doesn’t interfere.”

Rep. Brooks calls for investigation into Hunter Biden, says “art sales” a pay to play scheme for White House access

December 8th, 2021

WASHINGTON, DC – Republican Representative Mo Brooks has called for a select committee investigation into alleged corruption concerning his artwork.

Brooks is suggesting the investigation because Hunter is allegedly only getting art sales so that they buyers get access to the President.

Brooks and other Republican leaders suggest that the profits that Hunter is seeing for his works of art are greatly inflated.

Brooks and others have called for the investigation to determine if people are overpaying for the artwork by Hunter just so they can buy an audience with his father.

Brooks calls for the investigation to occur when and if the Republicans are voted in full control of the House of Representatives following the next election. Brooks told Breitbart news:

“While Socialist Democrats claim you can identify as just about anything you want, everyone can agree that Hunter Biden can’t identify as an artist.

Despite this, his paintings sell for tens of thousands of dollars. The White House released a report that the art market is ripe for financial corruption. Yet somehow, they claim Hunter is immune from this. It’s quite apparent that people are not paying these outrageous prices for the ‘art.’

“They are purchasing access to the Biden name. This is nothing new for the Biden family. It is clear that for full transparency, a full select committee investigation into Hunter Biden and all of his scandals, including his laptop, is needed once Republicans take back control of the House in 2022.”

Brooks is not the only person who is asking for there to be some type of investigation into Hunter and his art sales. In October, Republican Representative Ken Buck also called for an investigation into the sales.

During a House Judiciary Committee Hearing with Democratic Attorney General Merrick Garland, Buck took the time to show three different pieces of art.

The first two were by well established artists which should for $700,000 and $500,000. The third piece of work was done by Hunter and sold for $500,000. In showing the painting, Buck said:

“You may recognize this painting is a Hunter Biden. The Hunter Biden painting sold for $500,000.”

Buck went on to note that Hunter has no artistic background to speak of and had not been able to find an art gallery that was willing to show his work until 2020. Buck noted:

“And what happened in 2020 that changed all that, is that his dad became President of the United States. Now a single piece of art from Hunter Biden sells for more than the average American home.”

In the exchange with Garland, Buck contended that his office had sent an official request to his office asking for a special counsel investigation in Hunter and his art dealings.

When asked if he was going to appoint a special counsel for the investigation, Garland said:

“[F]or the same reasons I’m not going to respond to questions about investigations of the former president or anyone else, I’m not going to discuss or otherwise with respect to any US citizen.”

Garland also denied that he was aware of any official request from Buck or anyone else to appoint a special counsel investigation. Regardless of his denial, the letter does exist and in part says:

“It’s now apparent that President Biden could be directly implicated in the ongoing investigations into his son’s money transfers and dealings, raising serious questions regarding whether then Vice President Joe Biden was aware of and possibly benefited from the influence peddling operation led by his son.

“It s now more critical than ever to appoint a special counsel who can lead this investigation in an impartial way. As outlined in 28 CFR ss 600, the attorney general has the right to appoint a special counsel to investigate and prosecute matters and individuals that present a conflict of interest for the department when it is in the public interest.

Allowing the investigation to continue to be handled according to the normal practices of the department means that Senate-confirmed political appointees who can only be removed from office by the president are now overseeing an investigation into his son’s, and possibly his, financial dealings related to a prior, or possibly ongoing, influence-peddling scheme.

“No person is above the law, not even the President of the United States.”

Irony: Biden White House flags art world for ‘corruption’ while letting Hunter Biden sell pieces for $500,000

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Biden White House has taken the art world to task over “corruption,” even as it allows Hunter Biden to peddle his creations to buyers for up to $500,000 apiece.

In December 2021, the White House published a report entitled “United States Strategy on Countering Corruption.”

The 38-page publication talks a good talk on corruption, noting in its introduction:

“When government officials abuse public power for private gain, they do more than simply appropriate illicit wealth. Corruption robs citizens of equal access to vital services, denying the right to quality healthcare, public safety, and education.

“It degrades the business environment, subverts economic opportunity, and exacerbates inequality.

“It often contributes to human rights violations and abuses, and can drive migration.

“As a fundamental threat to the rule of law, corruption hollows out institutions, corrodes public trust, and fuels popular cynicism toward effective, accountable governance.”


The report declares that one of its five “pillars” of work to address corruption would be for the U.S. government to “[Hold] corrupt actors accountable.”

While appearing to take a hard line on corruption, the report also brings up the art world in its industry-specific discussions.

It states:

“The markets for art and antiquities—and the market participants who facilitate transactions—are especially vulnerable to a range of financial crimes.

“Built-in opacity, lack of stable and predictable pricing, and inherent cross-border transportability of goods sold, make the market optimal for illicit value transfer, sanctions evasion, and corruption.”


Notably, it also points out that:

“The AML [Anti-Money Laundering] Act mandates that the Treasury conduct a study of the facilitation of money laundering, terrorism finance, and other illicit financial dealings through the trade in works of art, which will be sent to the Congress by the end of 2021.”

Interestingly, despite the strong words in the report, the White House does not appear to be investigating the art dealings of one Hunter Biden.


According to Fox News, the president’s son, who has no formal experience in the art world, has priced his paintings between $75,000 and $500,000 each, supposedly for anonymous buyers.

In addition, the White House reportedly has an “ethics plan” in place to keep Hunter Biden in the dark about who is buying his “artwork.”

Naturally, these dealings have fallen under criticism, as they are suspected to provide an opportunity for buyers to influence the Biden White House.

According to the New York Post, Walter Shaub, the former head of the U.S. Office of Government Ethics, tweeted in October 2021:

“There is no ethics program in the world that can be built around the head of state’s staff working with a dealer to keep the public in the dark about the identities of individuals who pay vast sums to the leader’s family member for subjectively priced items of no intrinsic value.”

Shaub continued:

“If this were Trump, Xi [Jinping] or [Vladimir] Putin, you’d have no doubt whatsoever that this creates a vehicle for funneling cash to the first family in exchange for access or favors.

“Nor would you doubt that the appearance of monetizing the presidency was outrageous.”

The supposed anonymity of Hunter Biden’s art buyers has also been called into question anyway, as Fox News reports that the president’s son has been seen at art shows in the presence of buyers.

Shaub was first to point out the irony in the White House’s report on corruption, tweeting:

“The White House just issued a report flagging that money laundering is a problem in the… wait for it… art sale industry.”


Fox News contacted the White House for comment on the Hunter Biden corruption issue, but the White House did not respond.

However, in October, the president appeared to take a dismissive attitude toward the possibility of corruption in his son’s art dealings.

The New York Post reports:

“When a Post reporter asked Biden in October if he was concerned about potential corruption resulting from the sale of his son’s artwork, the president looked the reporter in the eyes and said: ‘You gotta be kidding me.’”
